Who is Leo Pruneau?

Leo Pruneau is regarded as one of the most influential designers to work in Australia, moulding the majority of Holden’s range throughout its blazing years, from the ’70’s and well into the ’80’s.

To put it short, Leo Pruneau’s hands are the ones to shake for the designs of Holden’s iconic VB, VC, VH, and VK not to mention Peter Brock’s HDT Commodore.

Arriving in Australia in 1969 to commence his senior role at Holden, the Missouri-born man was always destined to bring the Australian motor industry to its knees and forever change the projection of Holden’s brand.  It was only after designing what was known as his best work; the Holden HX LE Coupe, Pruneau was appointed to create a very special Holden HX GTS sedan for the  1977 Melbourne Motor Show.

Motor enthusiasts were astonished at what they saw that day – The eye-catching Opaline Blue paint job along with the matching Pontiac Firebird wheels possessed by an astonishing turbocharged 308-V8 engine (360 horsepower).

Once completing the show circuit, this HX GTS was later known to be GM-H Boss, John Bagshaw’s personal choice of drive.

Games World alongside Classic Carlectables is proud to announce a limited edition 1:18 diecast replica of the Holden HX LE Coupe body in the same Opaline Blue finish as the original 1977 show car as a nod to what could have been. This replica model stayed remarkably true to the source, with contrasting blue stripes and aggressive Pontiac Firebird wheels. Only 500 of these models were created exclusively for our seasoned diecast-collecting customers.
