Carcassone - Hunters and Gatherers is a wonderful variant of Carcassonne. It is a little more complex as a base game than Carcassone, but the playstyle is very much the same. Instead of cities you have forests, and instead of fields you have meadows. The art style is very different, and is intended to be reminiscient of the famous cave paintings in the Carcassonne region of France. Uncle's Games recommends Carcassonne and it's variants very highly. Hunters and Gatherers is designed as a 2 to 5 player game, but especially shines as a 2 player game.

With this expansion, the players have new possibilities of strengthening their influence in the area around Carcassonne. Now traveling merchants transport their goods to surrounding cities and monasteries. The cities in the surrounding countryside can increase to a size large enough to elect their own mayors. Simple farmers build large and wealthy farms and the church tries to strengthen their influence by establishing abbeys.

His demonstrations amaze the crowds and inspire the creative to find many uses for this new contraption. Of course, not every planned use is well thought out or successful...

In the game of Carcassonne you can explore a land that changes with every game, staking claims and earning points. Create a Knight in your growing city, and when the city is complete, tally points for the size of the city. Create a highwayman on a country road, and get more points the longer your road is. Or cut off you opponent's development, leaving him with tiny villages and stunted fields. Carcassone is designed for up to 5 players, but makes an especially great 2 player game. Beautifully designed on thick, elegant tiles.

This Big Box is the same size of the previous, but with a slightly different component mix. Thus, it has a box liner designed with spaces for all the components. This big box includes the basic game, Inns & Cathedrals, Traders & Builders, Princess & Dragon, Abbey & Mayor, River 2, Count, King, and Cult.

The rules are brief and an enclosed, separate score chart summarizes the scoring, allowing you to begin playing in a very short time (probably 5 minutes if you have played the basic Carcassonne game previously). Carcassonne: The Discovery is a great game for experienced game-players to introduce their friends to the world of gaming in a simple yet strategic format that is family-friendly and comfortable for players of all levels.

The plot of the game is that the people of the Carcassonne region have decided to expand to distant lands. The players explore and discover the geography of the surrounding area, facing the dangers of the sea and the mountains and exploring the vast grasslands. The skill and strategy of the players exploring these new territories and their approach to controlling them by deploying their followers as brigands, navigators, and explorers will determine who is victorious.

RISK 2210 A.D., an advanced version for RISK game fans ready for more strategic play, extends the theme 200 years into the future when the world’s countries are at war. The classic wargame Risk has been updated and revised for 2008. The graphics and components are brand new. Major and minor objectives have been added, along with cities and capitals, plus rewards for completing objectives.

The new version has a drastically changed victory condition: complete three objectives while controlling your capital. This shortens the game playing time to around 90 minutes.
